We Handle Your Insurance Claim

Don’t navigate the insurance process alone. RestoWorks documents everything, prepares Xactimate estimates, and communicates directly with adjusters — so you get what you’re owed, faster.

We use Xactimate — the same estimating software your insurance adjuster uses. No pricing disputes. Faster approvals.

How We Handle Your Claim — Start to Finish

From the minute we arrive to the final walkthrough, we manage the documentation and insurance process so you can focus on your family or business.

1

Emergency Response & Immediate Documentation

We arrive within 60 minutes and begin photographing and documenting all damage before any work starts. Thorough documentation from the first hour protects your claim.

2

Detailed Damage Assessment

Our IICRC-certified technicians conduct a complete assessment of all affected areas — including hidden moisture, structural damage, and secondary damage that adjusters sometimes miss.

3

Xactimate Estimate Preparation

We prepare your estimate using Xactimate — the same industry-standard software your insurance adjuster uses. This means no disputes over pricing and faster claim approvals.

4

Direct Adjuster Communication

We communicate directly with your insurance adjuster, answer their questions, and advocate for full coverage of all legitimate damage. You stay informed without being in the middle.

5

Restoration & Final Sign-Off

After approved restoration is complete, we do a final walkthrough with you to confirm everything meets scope. Your satisfaction — and the insurer's — is the last box we check.

We Work With All Major Insurance Carriers

We have experience navigating claims with every major insurer in Ohio. If yours isn’t listed, we work with them too.

Understanding Your Coverage

Two key terms that affect how much your insurer pays — and what you owe out of pocket.

RCV
Replacement Cost Value

Pays to replace damaged items with new equivalents at today’s prices. This is the better coverage — you get enough to fully restore your property without depreciation deductions.

✓ Better payout  ✓ Full restoration covered
ACV
Actual Cash Value

Pays replacement cost minus depreciation. An older roof or flooring gets a lower payout because it has already “used up” some of its value. You may owe more out of pocket.

⚠ Depreciation deducted  ⚠ Higher out-of-pocket

Check your policy declarations page or call your agent to confirm which coverage you have. We can help you understand what it means for your claim.

Insurance Claim FAQs

Common questions about the restoration insurance process.

Will filing a claim raise my insurance rates?
Rate increases depend on your policy, insurer, and claims history — not on filing a legitimate claim. Most policies allow a certain number of claims before rates are affected. We recommend calling your agent to understand your specific policy before filing, but delaying restoration to avoid a claim can make damage far worse and more expensive.
What if my insurance company lowballs the damage estimate?
This is common. Adjusters are employed by the insurance company and may underestimate damage or miss hidden issues. We use Xactimate to prepare our own detailed estimate and will advocate directly with the adjuster to ensure all damage is accounted for. If there is a significant dispute, you have the right to request a re-inspection or hire a public adjuster.
How long does the insurance claim process take?
Most claims are acknowledged within 1-3 days and approved within 1-2 weeks of adjuster inspection. We start mitigation (water extraction, drying, board-up) immediately regardless of claim status to prevent further damage — most policies cover emergency mitigation. Full restoration timing depends on the scope of damage.
Do I need to get my own estimate before calling you?
No. Call us first. The sooner we arrive, the less damage your property sustains. We will document everything before touching anything and prepare a professional estimate for your insurer. Getting multiple estimates before acting wastes critical time with water and fire damage.
What is the difference between RCV and ACV coverage?
RCV (Replacement Cost Value) pays to replace damaged property with new items at current prices — this is the better coverage. ACV (Actual Cash Value) pays replacement cost minus depreciation, so you receive less for older items. Check your policy declarations page to know which you have. We can help you understand what each means for your specific claim.
Do you bill the insurance company directly?
Yes, in most cases we can bill your insurer directly, so you are not out-of-pocket waiting for reimbursement. You are typically responsible for your deductible. We will walk you through the payment process before any work begins so there are no surprises.
